Colette Phair is a nonbinary writer, filmmaker, content creator, marketer, and progressive activist. Zie is the author of Nightmare in Silicon, which won the Chiasmus Press First Book Competition, and which Alan Moore called “a toxic-shock torrent of bad energy and beautiful language.” Zir short fiction and articles have appeared in The Apocalypse Reader, Bitch Magazine, 3:AM, and Women’s Studies Quarterly. With zir partner Jesse, Colette started the The Slow Travel Channel on YouTube to share their lives traveling the world as digital nomads. 

Zir novel In Your Shadow tells three interwoven stories about the struggle between genetic inheritance and self-determination. Zie is currently writing Daydreams From The Future, which is the sequel to Nightmare in Silicon, and curates memes via the SciFi.Memes Instagram account. Zie directed the short horror film Way Out as part of the Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge. You can find all zir film projects on IMDb.


Colette has written marketing and fundraising materials for several progressive nonprofits focused on international development, women's rights, environment, and civic engagement. You can also view zir marketing site, Black Sheep​. Zie has a master's degree in market research and consumer behavior from the Instituto de Empresa Madrid and a bachelor's in politics from the University of California Santa Cruz. As part of zir nomadic life, zie has lived and traveled across North America, South America, Europe, and Africa.
